5 ways to spread positivity

Try implementing these five tips to feel brighter and happier.

  1. START AS YOU MEAN TO GO ON
When you wake up, try to start the day with some self care. You could practise positive self talk when you look at yourself in the mirror, whether that’s to be more body confident, or perhaps you need a boost for the next step in your career, for an important meeting or job interview - or even just to leave the house. Empowering people was the inspiration behind our MonRon mirror decals (see link to shop) made from removable vinyl, they can be placed on mirrors, laptops, phone cases, walls, wardrobes, tiles, fridges or the back of your front door. Anywhere that you can see displayed, for that daily reminder.

  2. KEEP A GRATITUDE JOURNAL
Remembering all those amazing things you already have in your life is a great exercise to feel grateful, sometimes you spend so much time focusing on what you haven’t got, being thankful for what you do have is very rewarding. Make a list of these things in a journal, which can be useful to read at a later date too. We love the Happy Self Journal whose mutil-award winning journals promote happiness and aim to develop positive habits and nurture enquiring minds, but they’re not just for kids, they do grown-up journals too. And the bright yellow cover can’t fail to lift your mood.

  3. DON’T FORGET TO LAUGH
We all know laughter is the best medicine, and keeping a sense of humour goes a long way when feeling and staying positive. Our sassy prints like ‘Don’t be a dick’ and ‘The Cheek, the nerve, the audacity, the gall and the gumption’ and are a couple of examples of our humorous quotes. Seeing funny wall art can help you cope with a tough day, or remind you of your favourite drag queen.

  4. SPEND TIME WITH HAPPY PEOPLE
It sounds obvious but identify areas or people of negativity in your life and gravitate away from them and towards happier people that support you, make you laugh and make you feel good. To use a D.I.Y. analogy, think ‘radiators’ not ‘drains’. Being around or talking/zooming/face-timing people who radiate happiness and positivity will make you feel better and reflect your energy, not drain it from you.

  5. HAPPY TALK
Practise positive self talk, whether it’s devising and using a daily mantra you repeat, talking to yourself in the mirror, or reading one of our decals with an empowering message, the more you do this, the better you will feel and you will flex that self-care muscle. And like anything, practise makes perfect.
